A weather warning regarding round 1 of the MD Champion Skipper series at Bournville.
In light of the upcoming storm that is forecast over the weekend Bournville club officials are monitoring forecasts with the intention of declaring on Friday night whether the event will take place. Those who have entered will be contacted directly. If it is postponed the most likely date for rearranging the event would be on the 22nd March. Webmaster comments: Bournville benefits from some shelter from all the housing and trees around the lake. There is, as always, some differences between forecasts regarding wind strengths and gusts, so there might still be some sailing but it's not looking good. At has at least spurred me to check out my B and C suits.

Just a reminder that it's the weekend of the 6m National Championship over the course of Saturday and Sunday 7th and 8th August, being held at Dartmoor Model Boat at Shaugh Lake near Cadover Bridge.
There are 17 entries to date and a late entry can still be made! If you can't sail it will still be a good watch. See their website for all the details. http://dartmoormbc.org/6-meter-nationals/ Just a reminder that the Open Meeting at Fleetwood takes place this coming Sunday. The venue offers the chance to sail at a more open water than many other six metre fleets sail at with the opportunity to sail longer legs and enjoy the full potential of the six metre design. The aim of the meeting is to get boats on the water, including any that have languished in the garage, shed or wherever. So long as it's a six metre then it's eligible. At our April meeting this year the visitors enjoyed the lake and the conditions so much they wanted a rerun. At the moment the weather forecast is very favourable with good top suit wind strength forecast down the length of the lake, so get your entry in and enjoy a friendly but competitive days sailing as a prelude to the National Championships in September. Entry can be made via the MYA entry system or directly to Shaun Holbeche via email ( see the Notice of Race). The Notice of Race is on the MYA website or the Fleetwood MY&PBC website. Just a reminder that the Tomlinson Vase open meeting is coming up this Saturday 29th June at the H&D club waters. This meeting is also round 2 of the Eastern District 2002 Trophy for 6 metres. Get your entry in soon via the MYA entry system, where you can also find the Notice of Race. |
