This was the first six metre open meeting of the season. Entrants were greeted by a gusty wind slanting off the clubhouse shore in a south-westerly direction. A long zigzag course was set down the pond.
The main challenge of the day was deciding exactly where along the line to start as this tended to be the decisive decision, invariably determining the outcome of each heat. Each of the skippers enjoyed some success including Steve Mattison winning race 8, but the closest battle was between Derek and Shaun, with Derek coming out on top by one point to take the day.
