The resurgence of the 6 Metre class in general is being reflected in the uptake in the North of England centered around the Fleetwood club.
Starting from a lowly base of two owners the fleet has gradually developed despite the disruption caused by covid. In the latest development John Sharman has now acquired a Ravenna design which had been languishing un-sailed and will now be brought back into the fleet. John intends to sail both at Fleetwood and at other clubs events and is a welcome recruit to the fleet as a whole. The addition of John and his boat now brings the Fleetwood flotilla up to eight owner-members, plus John Taylor who is 'between boats' at the moment. ( Does a new Six metre design beckon we wonder? ) We also have a club owned 6m, a 'classic' Psyche' design and access to other Sixes owned by members. Members have found the Fleetwood water provides a great 'playground' where these boats can show off their potential to great effect. With the relaxation in covid rules and the prospect of everyone approaching more normal activity levels we hope to welcome owners from other clubs to our open meetings to sample the great sailing venue that Fleetwood is.
