One can not help but start with the International Rules for full size Six Metre yachts which were originally developed in 1907 to allow yachts built across the world to be compete upon an equal basis racing each other boat for boat. They became an Olympic class, sailing at the Games between 1908 and 1952. They have subsequently undergone a number of changes and there is currently an interest in reviving the 'Classics', those designed and built prior to 31st December 1965 while an 'Open' class caters for subsequent yachts. The model six metres are scale versions of these majestic yachts. |
