Fleetwood's Six Metre fleet got onto the water at last for some club sailing on Sunday 18th after missing out on lockdown restrictions being lifted by one day, back at the end of March.
Some owners had previous commitments and obligations but we managed to get 5 boats on the water and had a very pleasant days sailing and generated some interest in the class too. At least one member is actively looking for a Six. It would have been nice to have had outside visitors able to sail with us but covid rules meant it was not to be. Next time hopefully! On Friday club member Steve Mattison had received his new acquisition, a Renaissance. Set up and tweeking, with the help of other skippers on the Friday and Sunday produced a boat that showed much promise with a good turn of speed, so much so that Steve won the final race of the day to finish off a most enjoyable Wyre Trophy event, won by Shaun Holbeche. We now look forward to future events at Fleetwood and around the circuit this summer and beyond.
