Romanza Build Update A lot has happened since I last posted here, unfortunately not on the Romanza project which after the euphoria of getting Monica out of the mould has stalled slightly due to our commitments with other projects, not least of which was making 45 bearing sets for Wee Nip Goosenecks! A magazine article which involved a complete build of a Fat Boy Slim, and revision of the drawings, the new MYA Midlands website. So here a couple of pictures of what has been done, the cross bracing is in place, the mast step is fitted and the attachment points for the rigging are in position Work elsewhere also proceeds with the fin under construction, or at least a plug to make a mould for the fin. We are making this oversized (about 20mm long ) so that we can cut it to an exact fit once we have the position it fits to.
To make the plug the top and bottom profiles we cut in ply and then sandwhiched between the was a foam core, it was then just a matter of cuting around these with a hot wire to produce the required fin. This is then covered in one of our favourites, lightweight glass cloth and a two part epoxy resin (polyester and foam don't mix). Hopefully you can see all of that from the picture!
