Two Islands RYC
Six Metre Open
9th April 2016
REPORT BY PETER SHEPHERD
With his recently acquired Rococco Dave Andrews of Hampton Court was a welcome addition to the Six Metre fleet, with some impecable sailing it is clear that the rest of us will have to try a little bit harder.
The weather was kind to us saving a short downpour untill we were packing away our boats, even though the wind direction left a bit to be desired and some big holes in the course, still it was the same for everyone and we just got on with it and enjoyed the days racing.
Dave Green was a solid second and Mike Ewart & Geoff Earle had ther customary battle with Mike just pipping Geoff on second place countbacks.

Keith Bell sailed the borrowed Revival very well especially in the light winds where it came into it's own, as the wind picked up towards the end this meant he suffered a little.
The cheeky girl Monica in the hands of Peter Shepherd struggled during the morning but put in some more consistant performances towards the end.
Paul Risdale had a solid event with his now complete and measured Renaisance, Geoff Raygada had electric trouble, Peter Jackson & Colin Davies just never really got going and it was good to see Mick Shillington back at the lakeside.
Richard Dolman was press ganged into doing the RO duties with which he did an outstanding job, so much so we might even ask him to do it again. In truth when the skippers are this well behaved it makes the race officers job so much easier, almost even enjoyable.
The next event Six Metre Open is in the Eastern District, the Shearwater Trophy at the Broads Sunday 17th April.
