2015 Open meetings are all done for the Sixes, (thats all folks) Grannies magic gazebo kept the light rain off the nine skippers when it fell but failed to work her magic and keep the wet stuff completely away. The racing started promptly, Peter Shepherd's Romanza never made it out of the car park succuming to a seized rudder, a left over from the now infamous trip to Harwich, and then their were eight. The ever reliable Mick Shillington managed but one race and then had a sail winch fail and was forced to retire after one race, and then there were seven.
Sailing from Pauls spit provided a course for the remaining sevenwith reliable windsand good beats up and down, the light breezes filled in from time to time to give a slightly stonger and more reliable wind. It isn't called Two Islands for nothing and these had their part to play creating wind channels which those with a bit of local knowledge were able to exploit. So it was that Dave Green & Geoff Raygada were able to capitalise although most of the fleet took a turn up at the front. Peter Salt had a good run of results and was most pleased with his final thrid place finish. Protests and disputes were a burning topic of the days racing in that there weren't any, with skippers volutarily taking the penalties, the racing was competetive and conducted in a most gentlemenly manner.
Along with the plethera of Graham Bantock Designs, we were pleased to see some other designers represented as well, Peter Salt sailed a nicely turned out Siskin and Chris Graves was at the helm of his Ter, whilst Peter wood was at the helm of a Sylph.
Peter Salt also had a winch failure later on which took the final tally left on the water down to six. Thanks to everyone for their assistance in a good day out on the water and to all our six metre skippers for rounding off a good season with some good competitve racing see you all next season .
